Corporate Social Responsibility
This includes my animal welfare, environment, landscaping, economic benefits to the poultry farmer and food safety. Rondeel also strives to minimize environmental impact by making smart use of resources. We are working on broad CSR initiatives, and our goal is to operate in an integrally sustainable manner in various projects. We are proud to contribute to responsible, sustainable food production and are constantly working to do so.
Animal Welfare
At Rondeel they understand how important it is that chickens can live the way chickens are supposed to live. Did you know that chickens naturally spend almost 95% of their time feeding and scratching? That’s why Rondeel has designed special areas where we can practice our natural behaviors. In the wooded area, they have placed tree stumps and soft, natural ground cover where we can sunbathe. And the outdoor enclosure has artificial grass, which means we can scratch all year round, regardless of the weather. Every day, the farmer sprinkles grain in our enclosure, which we enjoy immensely and encourages us to scratch even more.
The great thing is that the Animal Protection Society has recognized this understanding of our natural needs and rewarded Rondeel with 3 stars of the Better Life Quality mark. This is the highest attainable number of stars and equals the standards of organic poultry farming. By awarding stars to organizations such as Rondeel that lead the way in animal welfare, the Society for the Protection of Animals encourages producers of animal products to pay more attention to animal welfare like us. And that’s something we chickens are very happy about!
Chicken food
Special care is given to the food of the Rondeel chickens. Feed is the basis of healthy living and good egg quality. As a result, the eggs have a delicious full flavor and a beautiful natural yolk. The balanced feed consists of more than half of grains.
Rondeel BV
Rondeel B.V. is the national sales organization for eggs. This relieves the farmers from having to sell the eggs themselves. This gives them all the time they need to devote to keeping/tending the chickens. Depending on the demand for eggs, it tries to establish more Rondeel locations in the Netherlands. She is also responsible for rolling out the system in other countries, since 2018 there is also a branch abroad. By now, 7 Rondeel locations have been built.
The Rondeel poultry farmer takes care of his chickens first, of course, and provides quality eggs. He is a poultry farmer and egg packing station at the same time. He also receives visitors at the Rondeel and has 2 rooms available for private meetings, workshops, children’s parties, etc. Finally, the poultry farmer is also responsible for regional egg sales. Rondeel B.V. is located in the Venco Campus. This egg-shaped building is a unique building in all aspects where sustainability, innovation, flexibility and transparency are the basis of a future-proof accommodation for various companies in the poultry industry.
